The Rage of Demons Contest

The Rage of Demons set is being developed here at Guild headquarters, and we decided it could be a lot of fun to have a set of stats developed, in part, by the players. And you know what that means.
Design Contest!

The Rage of Demons set has a lot of reprints in it. So many, in fact, that we could design the entire set in just a weekend by simply using the prior game stats. But that's not particularly interesting, is it? However, one has to realize that with new players coming into the game, reprinting miniatures is necessary. This has been pointed out on the boards recently, and raises an important issue. Each new player to the game does not necessarily want to scour the second-hand boards and shops for key pieces.

If they simply start collecting now, they should be able to make a reasonable warband. And *that* is the goal of this contest.

What seems interesting to me is to design different interpretations of many of the pieces that fall in somewhat similar price ranges. In this way, the new piece does not necessarily supplant the existing miniature, - at least not completely - but does offer a very real option for new players and especially those that may not have access to the old miniature. So pick a piece from the Rage of Demons set, (you can alter the name a bit) and start designing.

This page is the place to enter. This page. I will quickly put a sample up that can be copied, so that we use a similar format. But all are welcome. The top 5 designs will go to development, and I will contact the winners to let them know. Contest ends in two weeks! (Lets say the 23rd of January.) The winners of the World Championships and Gen Con 200 may automatically submit one for development.

EDIT: I added Elven waybread for two reasons: 1. to support the elven theme 2. it gives some versatility which is nice but not overpowered

To honour my wc warband I decided to work on a drow. Having no clue about balancing miniatures I simply looked up the tomebound arcanist, a semi-competitive piece, and started editing. I lowered defences and damage (and took away the confusion, which is obviously a big thing to remove) and tried to make up for it with a couple tech options.

I have concerns initially with the beholder, as it feel a lot like a scenario monster, and sets somewhat radical new precedents for the competitive game. That scores *high* in creativity and lower in metagame.
