Gen Con Championship 2010 information
Judging by the posts on the boards, some people are wondering what is going to happen for the Map Rotation and warband building limitations for the North American Championships at Gen Con.
First, a little about the schedule. Friday morning is registration, and the first two rounds will be played. Some people will get through one or both of these rounds on Byes. Saturday morning, we will continue with rounds 3 and onward.
So which maps are we using? This year will be very similar to last year, with 7 maps available for players to pair with their warbands. Of course, there are additional figures now available, too. We have also tweaked things a bit, as you may notice in the order of map use. We did this because, for many folks, the third and fourth rounds turn out to be crucial. You can find the map rotation in the fact sheet.
You may also notice the absence of limits on which figures you can include in your warband. (aside from the fact that you can’t use any of the currently banned figures – that is, Eternal Blade, Witchknife, and Delver Sergeant). It is a very healthy metagame right now, and I for one don’t think its been ‘solved.’ Given that the magic items in E1 will be legal at GenCon, I suppose this technically makes this championship tournament the most complex Warband Building challenge ever.
And to that, I say, enjoy.
PS. In the coming days, expect a longer letter with more information on the other events at Gen Con. We are looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
