Good comment, Brad.
I confess that we definitely considered trying to make that happen right from when we started statting Raiders last year. But we decided to go this route actively for a few reasons.
[1] In the end a complete warband would be fully predictable, no matter how good or competitive.
[2] Instead, the strategy we went for was that you can add one or two creatures to get your 150/8 or 200/8. - in effect, you have a mini-warband building exercise right out of the box.
[3] While it requires warband construction it is very limited - there are some synergies within each band and so this limits the construction challenges for a new player, but even old players would like it.
(at least, I like the idea of different Defender and Raider bands).
That's also why I posted the Raiders v Defenders thread. I love considering adding an additional champ, tank or striker to the two groups.
BTW, For an absolute beginner's warband, it still works for 100 arena, where you eliminate a creature or two. And still provides the initial idea that you consider what you want in your warband.
