2009 Constructed Qualifiers: First Wave
The DDM Guild is pleased to anounce the locations of Qualifier tournaments for the 2009 D&D Miniatures Constructed Championship, held at Gen Con Indianapolis. This year's championship is an open tournament that is played in three stages -- Stage I on Friday, Stage II on Saturday, and Stage III on Sunday. Anyone can show up and test her luck and skill. So, why have qualifiers, you might ask?
Top finishers in each qualifier will receive a bye through Stage I of the Constructed Championship. That's equivalent to winning your first three games! Any veteran of the big tournament will tell you its a huge advantage to be able to watch others play for a few rounds and know that you'll still be fresh and rested when you are to begin play on Saturday -- placed at the top of the heap, no less -- after your bye runs out. On top of that, we'll have DDM Guild swag for top finishers at qualifiers (but you have to show up to Gen Con to get it).
Download the 2009 Constructed Championship Qualifier Fact Sheet for full details and to find the location of your nearest qualifier. US Qualifiers are currently planned in Indiana , Pennsylvania, New Jersy, Massachusetts, and, for the first time ever, South Dakota. Canadian Qualifiers are planned for Toronto, ON and Calgary, AB.
Finally, we should add that the Guild also is considering adding one or two late-breaking qualifiers on the west coast, as a finale to the 2009 qualifier season. These qualifiers will be held on June 27th, and we're hoping to have hosts in Washington and California. We'll have more details for you soon!
