MM2 Finnish Open

Close Attack Happy to announce we'll be playing the Monster Menagerie 2 limited tournament in Porvoo, Finland on November 4th (Sat).

Here's believing we'll have the set available by then. Wink

Area Attack It is the Finnish Open Limited Championship 2017. From what I've heard I believe we'll have most if not all of our top players plus more good people attending, so it should be excellent pastime & exciting matches!

Looking forward to the event. I'll be setting it up myself - preparing prizes (repaints, new figures, maps etc.) and providing "booster cards" (and miniatures to go with them, to loan) for those who do not bring their own boosters.

And hey, if any of our international friends is up for a trip to Finland, I'll definitely host you for the night.
Smile

I'll report afterwards.

Tempting - if it had been the week before I would have started to look for flights. Sadly, I am not on holiday before that weekend though. Hope it goes well.

Thanks, Darkones!

Too bad, Peter. Wish I had asked you first... On the bright side, from "the national team" Justjooaivan, Mr.Tulip and FriendlyAlienist confirmed already, which alone already makes it worth putting this together! It's not like we've played together every year, lately.
Smile
I'm really hoping we'll get to enjoy a good showing from other mainstays, too, as well as a fresh face or two. Time will tell.

A very tough lot - should be a great set of games!

I hope some of the National team decide to visit and fight for the European title, and have some fun. I've missed my half-swedes Wink Seriously - always enjoyed our times together - Nordic humour is special

I hear you, Peter. Same here!

I'm certain if anyone here at some point makes arrangements to come to Manchester '18, you'll be one of the first to hear. I know how it is when you're putting a big event together and would like to know how many are coming.

Btw, on this MM2 set... having now taken a closer look at the miniatures: I like how the creature selection will be very "basic D&D" in a sealed environment, whether you're a retro-D&D person or new to the line. They're doing even 2nd Edition-inspired stuff these days, it seems. No complaints here! Smile While the paint job is sloppy on some of the miniatures, I do like most of the sculpts and choices for colours. And many of the paint jobs are actually quite good from a normal playing distance. Hopefully I'll find a couple of nights to repaint before the tournament, at least some touch-ups. Either way, the prize table will be nice.

Haven't played a game in over two years. Too much life going on lately. I do miss this game, which I still think is the king of all games. 90% of my gaming has been on my mobile device lately. When pf contacted me about the possible sealed tournament, I admit, I was unable to picture where my minis collection even was. But talking to pf, who is among the nicest guys in the universe, I realized how much I had missed the game, and the players. The DDM players are a special bunch indeed. I have no idea how the game has been able to garner such a pleasant overall group to play.

So, as soon as I talked with pf, I also immediately contacted Mr. Tulip and was happy to hear he was likewise eager to play again. We even (super prematurely) discussed Manchester 18. No promises, but discussion has started.

"discussed Manchester 18" Laughing out loud Let that be so... (fingers crossed)

I can do a tour of Manchester as a "guide" - see some of the unique sites. Cheetham Library (think Harry Potter), World's first railways station, where Mr. Rolls met Mr. Royce, World's first stored program computer, Old trafford football ground, Salford Quays, castlefield, Spinningfields, and maybe a pub (or two), China Town (PF went, I think in '09)...

Welcome back, Justjooaivan! Just when I started being able to type your name without double checking the spelling, you disappeared. But I'm glad you're back, or at least considering coming back more regularly. The great thing about DDM is that experienced players are welcome back any time...

Some tournament details, finally. Sorry it took this long. I'm desperately short of time so I'll keep this as short as possible.

Personally I thoroughly enjoyed the company of these fine individuals! Luck was against me in the beginning and despite somewhat battling back in that first round game (vs. Mr. Tulip), it was mostly downhill from there success-wise... as much - or more - because of skilled opponents than anything else. It was more than alright though - I was happy just to get to play and the key for me was a smooth-running tournament. I hope the participants feel that was the case. Seemed like everyone enjoyed playing, and as I said before, it was great to see these people and play some tight games.
