Spoiling Elemental Evil: Curious Commons

With Elemental Evils in final development, (and design beginning on Rage of Demons) it seems a good time to begin spoiling some of the creatures in the E. Evils set. One may find some rather unexpected things in this particular set, which will offer new approaches to warband building. This will open new doors for both competitive and casual play.

The Forthcoming Year in DDM

Some of you have been wondering what the 'announcements' I made in Europe were, and others may have already shared or started rumors. This is all good! There was nothing super secret or arcane about the little talk I gave. I simply detailed my plans for the next set of rules and development. I finally found time to put down in writing and expand some of these details.

Euros and GenCon Epic Promos

GenCon is upon us, and I wanted to share the new Promo statted figures with everyone that I first shared with the European players. The stats are for a pair of classic older figures that simply didn't quite make the cut (no pun intended, Bladebearer...)

World Championships, 2015

I am pleased to sanction this year's World Championship in Italy. We are expecting two dozen of the world's best players, citizens from many of the fine countries in the EU. And it won't be only old-world wisdom attending. We should have an upstart North American or two attend, as well!

Release the Dragons!

Here it is - the first full set in a very long time, and one that we think pushes the limits. Its a unique set that plays with the mobility theme without sacrificing too much on damage. Killer pieces invite new players to the game, but also makes for a fun sealed set to boot. Welcome to the Tyranny of Dragons.

Spoiling Tyranny

As the Tyranny of Dragons set goes into final typesetting,we provide you with a glimpse of what is to come. Specifically, two big bad boys that inspire with their unique champion powers, and whose point costs (64 and 46) seem reversed relative to one another. Its appropriate, because they are going to typically find themselves on opposite sides of a battle map.

Icons of the Realms Starter Set

Though it took a while to get this published, I'm very pleased with the results, and I hope you all enjoy it too. These six figures are sure to shake up the metagame and offer interesting new options for warbands in many different formats. Special thanks to Tried and Moraturi for making this happen!

Strategy Guide: 200 point Arena

In the penultimate part of this five-part article, Moraturi gives valuable strategy tips for my personal favorite format: 200 point Arena (5 creatures, small maps). Hopefully the warbands listed in this article will inspire interesting new designs for the Map Design Contest that's underway. Thank you again to Moraturi for the analysis! -Ira

Map Design Contest

Due to generous financial backing from Tobias (and likely Tried as well), we are fortunate to be able to fund the art production and printing of a new double-sided map! We have a commitment from the amazing artist Jason Engle, who has vast map making experience. We will be making small maps (22x17) due to lower art costs, lower printing costs, and legal map balance (there are currently 30 legal large maps and only 8 legal small maps).

Strategy Guide: 100 point Gladiator

In part 3 of this five-part article, Moraturi offers insights into the 100 point Gladiator format (exactly 2 creatures, small maps). Thank you, Moraturi! -Ira
